A filter element (12) is mounted inside the fuel tank (10) and has an intake (15) below the surface of the fuel (11) in the tank. The filter housing (13) contains a flat filter (14). A main pump (17) supplies fuel to the engine feed line (18). A line (21) leads from the space over the filter via a non-return valve (22) to a turbine pump (20) which draws in vapor and returns it (23) to the tank.
