System has position measuring device (4) (ODS) combined with inertial sensor (2) unit to a hybrid position measuring system. The inertial sensor unit consists of any combination, sensors for measuring linear accelerations, sensors for measuring angular accelerations and sensors for measuring the earth's magnetic field. An independent claim is also included for the method.
