Method for reducing hydrolysable chlorine content in organic isocyanates or its mixtures comprises contacting the organic isocyante or aqueous organic isocyanate mixture or their solutions, in a first step, with a water-containing inert gas stream/an organic material having cationic-exchange effect and in the second step, gently releasing the obtained mixture from optionally existing solid.
