The method for the manufacture of an electric heating conductor entails making available a powder mixture from an electrically conducting material and an electrically poorly conducting material, high-energy pulverizing of the mixture, and applying the mixture by thermal spraying onto a substrate of ceramic, glass ceramic, or a glass. The substrate may consist of a glass ceramic, preferably a LAS-glass ceramic, and an insulating layer is first applied on the substrate before creating a heat conducting layer by thermal spraying. An independent claim is included for a ceramic hob with substrate of ceramic, glass ceramic, or glass, produced by the aforesaid method.
