A light liquid separator comprises a separation chamber surrounded by a wall; a feed opening into the separation chamber; and a run-off for heavy liquid. A layer (3) made from electrically conducting material is arranged within the wall (2) made from electrically non-conducting material. A probe (6) for detecting a flow between the heavy liquid in the deposition chamber and the layer of electrically conducting material is located in the deposition chamber and releases a warning signal if a leak is detected. Preferred Features: The layer is formed as a lattice-like layer. The wall is a concrete wall. The probe is coupled with a leak display device (8).
