The device for the stabilization of a movably mounted body of a motor vehicle has wheel spring units (15a-15d) between the base frame and the wheels (14a-14d) of the vehicle, and a sensing unit (21a-22d) which determines a movement quantity which is fed to a control unit (23) for the stabilization of the body of the vehicle. The lifts occurring on the wheel spring units are wheel-individually adjustable by the activating of associated actuating units, wherein the control unit activates the actuating units in dependence upon the determined movement quantities in such a way that an undesired movement of the vehicle's body is at least compensated for. An independent claim is included for a method for the stabilization of a movably mounted body of a motor vehicle.
