The spirit level has a bubble level (3) inserted into a retainer (2) of a base plate (1). A level base and/or a base (6) of the retainer have an elevation (8) for adjustment of the bubble level in the retainer. Cross-section of the elevation is formed like a triangle, round or hemisphere. A fast hardening adhesive is applied in the region of the retainer before insertion or adjustment of the bubble level in the retainer.
