The method involves selecting a number of laser diodes (20) disposed along a straight line at an equal spacing distance. A determination is made for writing a number of image dots within a spacing distance of two adjacent diodes based on a resolution to be produced. An indexing feed of array of laser diodes is derived from the number of image dots and the number of laser diodes per rotation of a printing form blank.
