The method involves dividing n number of laser diodes (12) into a main field (14) with m number of laser diodes and into an auxiliary field (16) with q number of laser diodes. A printing form (32) is imaged with a number (m-r) of the laser diodes from the main field at a time tm. The printing form is then imaged with r number of the laser diodes from the auxiliary field at a different time ta.
