A carrier (30) is adapted to hold a wheel. A fastener (35) is provided for securing the carrier to a support being held between respective abutment surfaces (33a, 35a). A spacer (37, 39) is arranged between each of the abutment surfaces and the support and has formations (42,43) cooperating with the support to permit positioning of the spacers and to extend the axis of carrier in predetermined orientations relative to the support. An independent claim is included for a wheelchair.
