The acceleration sensor at a motor vehicle seat safety belt (20), to activate airbags on a collision impact, has a switch assembly (10) with a defined movement guide (12) along a longitudinal axis (16) where a circular mass (18) is held between a tensed rest position and an end position. The cross section of the guide is a regular polygon so that, on the development of a force (27) with an angled component, the mass moves along one corner of the polygon into the end position to trip the switch contact (22) to activate the airbags.
