Use of frankincense as food additive, makes the product more attractive and improves keeping properties, can be added to beverages, solid foods and tooth-care products
Additive (A) for foods comprises 4-20% ethereal oil (I); 55-65% resin (II); 20-25% gum (III) and 5-50% bassorin (IV). An independent claim is also included for beverages, solid foodstuffs and tooth-care compositions that contain (A). ACTIVITY : Antiinflammatory; Antiarthritic; Antirheumatic. No details of tests for these activities are given. MECHANISM OF ACTION : The Boswellia acids in (A) inhibit leukotriene biosynthesis.
