PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce disturbance by a sound source other than a desired sound source and estimate direction, velocity and moving direction of desired sound source with high precision to improve an SN ratio when collecting sounds.;SOLUTION: An output signal of a microphone array is cut out periodically using a time window and its frequency is analysed to calculate complex amplitude matrix in a frequency. Correlation matrix is calculated using a direction control vector corresponding to apparent direction θ from the microphone array, an inherent vector is calculated, matrix equivalent to noise component is calculated, and power in each θ direction is calculated using the direction control vector to assume θ in which an estimated value of the obtained power on every direction becomes the maximum as the estimated direction of the sound source. The procedures are repeated for each frequency and the either or the of time window and frequency are averaged to estimate the direction of the sound source.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
