The rail has a head (7) having a rail surface (17) slightly convex with respect to an average bearing plane according to a radius of curvature. The head has a flat band (21) inclined with a slope of 1/20 with respect to an orthogonal plane at the bearing plane. The surface (17) is connected to the band (21) by two successive convex portions (22, 23) having respective radii of curvature.
