The present invention relates to a high throughput screening method for the identification of inhibitors of the activity of editing enzymes such as Apobec-1 or its analogs and means for its implementation. In particular, it relates to a recombinant construct suitable for the screening of molecules that inhibit the activity of editing enzymes, comprising an open reading phase containing a translational fusion: a sequence encoding a signal peptide, a coding sequence for a reporter polypeptide , a sequence that can be edited by an editing enzyme and a sequence encoding a transmembrane domain. When translated from an unedited messenger RNA, the resulting chimeric protein is anchored to the plasma membrane of the cell. When translated from an edited messenger RNA, it is secreted. / P
