The console (2) has a cover (6) that is articulated to a base body using a hinge (20) around a rotation axis. The hinge is constituted by knuckles (22, 24) that are fixed to the cover and the body, respectively, where the knuckle (22) is in the form of gooseneck. The knuckle (22) is constituted of a branch (23A) fixed to the cover and a branch (23B) fixed to the branch (23A) and forming an acute angle with the branch (23A). An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising a central console mounted between a driver seat and a front passenger seat.
