Pollutant emission reducing method for e.g. heat engine, of hybrid vehicle, involves preheating catalyst having metallic monolith, by voluntary action of driver before starting engine, using preheating system connected directly to monolith
The method involves preheating a catalyst (5) having a metallic monolith (50), by voluntary action of a driver before starting a motor vehicle internal combustion engine (3), using a preheating system (6) connected directly to the monolith. The voluntary preheating of the catalyst is triggered, by the driver, through an interface (8) placed on a vehicle opening anticipation system (9) or an interface (10) placed on a dashboard. The preheating system (6) is controlled by a control device (7) and is supplied by a 12 or 42 volts battery (2) of the motor vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a device for reducing pollutant emissions emitted by an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle.
