The equipment has handles (38) fixed at a rail (31) of a cradle and above a seat (20) of a vehicle. An intermediate seat is provided beside the seat (20). The handles are seized by a handicapped person who then lifts himself on the intermediate seat using traction on the handles in order to pass from the intermediate seat to the seat (20). A cubbyhole is articulated around a vertical axle (60) with double ball bearings. The cubbyhole is articulated around the vertical axle with double ball bearing, for passing from wheelchair loading to storage positions. The vertical axle is supported by an armature with two arms. The cubbyhole is maintained in its loading and storage positions by latches when the user stores a wheelchair. One of the latches is fixed near the handles in order to lock the cubbyhole. The rotation of the cubbyhole is assisted by an electric motor. The cradle is covered at its top by a synthetic material roof.
