The device has a withdrawal unit to supply combustion gas to an analysis chamber (100) with an infrared ray sensor to provide a signal representing combustion gas concentration in the chamber. A detection unit controls passage of the gas from the chamber to a chamber (110) if the concentration does not cross a preset value. The chamber (110) has electrochemical sensors to provide a signal representing concentration in the chamber (110). The withdrawal unit cools the combustion gas before its input in the chamber (100). An independent claim is included for a combustion gas monitoring method.
