The sliding mechanism consists of an outer U-section rail (2) fixed to the vehicle floor and an inner rail (3) sliding inside it on bearings (12). The inner rail is made from two parallel strips (7, 8) with inner surfaces that meet along its upper part and are stepped and separated along its lower part before turning upwards to pass between the bearings. The mechanism differs in that the lower parts of the sliding rails' parallel strips and joined together at intervals by the welded tips of stamped inner surface protuberances (14).
