Zinc can be safely prescribed in the form of an enema in a dose between 25-50 micro mol/ml/60ml normal saline, once daily over 25-90 consecutive days for management of distal Crohn's colitis and distal colitis. It, also, can be effectively control severe cases of inflammatory bowel diseases when provided in the form of an infusion in a dose between 180- 250 micro mol per day divided in three equal doses over 5- 7 consecutive days.
