PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardening composition having high hardening activity and capable of giving a low-reflectance hardened article; a compound suitably used for the hardening composition as a cross linking agent; and a hardened article, a laminated film and antireflection film using the hardening composition; and further to provide a polarizing plate and an image display apparatus using the antireflection film. PSOLUTION: Provided are the hardening composition containing at least one hydroxyl group-containing polymer, at least one cross-linking agent having a fluorine atom and able to react with hydroxyl group and at least one hardening catalyst; the compound suitably used for the hardening composition as a cross linking agent and having a specified structure or its partial condensate; the hardened article obtained by heating the hardening composition; the laminated film or the antireflection film having a layer formed by applying the hardening composition onto a transparent support; the polarizing plate in which the antireflection film is used for one of two protective films of a polarization film; and the image display apparatus in which the antireflection film or the polarization plate is used on the outermost surface of its display.
