PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasion measuring instrument and an abrasion measuring method for a wheel, capable of measuring accurately an abrasion amount of a wheel cutter for engraving work to clear replacement timing, and capable of removing a defective in the engraving work for glass or cutting work thereof. PSOLUTION: This abrasion measuring instrument for measuring abrasion of the wheel used in a cutter for a plane substrate includes an abrasion measuring part for measuring an abrasion state of the wheel, a storage part for storing data as to the wheel and a measuring block, and a control part for comparing a data measured by the abrasion measuring part with the data stored in the storage part to determine the abrasion state of the wheel.
