PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a wide variety of architectural space layouts in a short time, which have clear boundaries and include passages and partitions.;SOLUTION: An architectural space as a whole is regarded as a set of grid-like cells in a specific size. The cells comprise space cells to be a unit structure constructing a room in the architectural space and non-space cells to be a unit structure constructing space other than rooms in the architectural space (for example, the passages and partitions). In a cell setting part 124, an attribute of the space cell and a distance index (affinity) between the cells are set. In a satisfaction calculating part 126, a determination part 128, and a cell layout part 130, cell automaton is applied to calculate movements of the cells corresponding to the affinity to obtain an optimal layout of the cells. In doing this, the space cells are moved always by way of a medium cell. The obtained space layout result is displayed on a display (an output apparatus 150) in computer graphics.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
