PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an instrument for measuring shaft torque, capable of accurately measuring the shaft torque acting on a drive shaft.;SOLUTION: Sensor targets 4, 5 are attached to outer rings 2a, 2b of respective constant-velocity universal joints 2, 3, rotation signals generated by the both sensor targets 4, 5 are detected by sensors 6, 7, and a phase difference between the rotation signals corresponding to a torsion generated in the drive shaft 1 is subjected to computation processing to find the shaft torque. In the computation processing of the phase difference, the rotational speed of the drive shaft 1 is detected to generate a pulse of frequency proportional to the detected rotational speed, the phase difference between the rotation pulse in an outboard side and the rotation pulse on the inboard side is found as the counted value of the pulse proportional to the rotation speed. The pulse proportional to the rotational speed is set as {60× the rotational speed of drive shaft(rpm)/S}Hz or higher, where S represents the resolution in the detection of the torsion angle of the drive shaft 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
