PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat glaucoma and/or ocular hypertension in mammal. PSOLUTION: The invention discloses a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of glaucoma and/or ocular hypertension in mammals and a treating method to administer the pharmaceutical composition to the mammalian eye. The pharmaceutical composition of the invention contains, as an active ingredient, one or more compounds having potassium channel blocking activity. Examples of the potassium channel blockers utilized in the pharmaceutical composition and method of treatment are quinine, tremogenic indole alkaloids such as penitrem A and paspalicine, and insect toxins such as charybdotoxin and iberiotoxin.
