PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for gene polymorphism detection excellent in the diagnosis of diseases or the like accompanied by stomach/duodenum inflammation including gastritis, gastric ulcer/duodenal ulcer, gastric polyp and stomach cancer for the purpose of the preventive medical diagnosis of digestive system diseases. PSOLUTION: The method for judging whether a subject has a primary cause of developing a digestive system disease, namely, for judging the possibility of contracting such a digestive system disease, is provided, comprising detecting a polymorphism that might be present in the promoter domain of a subject's IL-10 gene.
