PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a super-magnetostrictive actuator capable of ensuring the sufficient quantity of a displacement while applying a preload to a super-magnetostrictive shaft.;SOLUTION: The super-magnetostrictive actuator 10 has a super-magnetostrictive shaft 12 fitted in a housing 11, a preload spring 13 imparting the preload to the super-magnetostrictive shaft 12 and a pressure-receiving plate 14 fitted between the super-magnetostrictive shaft 12 and the preload spring 13. The super-magnetostrictive actuator 10 further has a spacer 15 fitted between the super-magnetostrictive shaft 12 and the pressure-receiving plate 14, an actuating coil 16 applying a magnetic field to the super-magnetostrictive shaft 12 and extending the super-magnetostrictive shaft 12 and a vibrator 17 vertically moved by an interlocking with an expansion and a contraction by the super-magnetostrictive shaft 12. The spacer 15 fills the role of the interpolation of the quantity of the super-magnetostrictive shaft 12 displaced, and is housed in a recessed section 14a formed to the base of the pressure-receiving plate 14.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
