PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical component which has superior moistureproof performance in addition to lightweight, low-cost, and mass-production suitability characteristics, and has extremely small variation in optical performance such as a refractive index even when affected by water in an environment, and an optical unit using the plastic optical component. PSOLUTION: The plastic optical component has an inorganic moistureproof film deposited on at least an outside-air contact surface by using a plasma CVD method directly or indirectly, and when the inorganic moistureproof film is deposited by using the plasma CVD method, the plastic optical component is kept below 80C.
