PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for correcting carriage error of a print medium in order to ensure printing at a correct position.;SOLUTION: A control section 1 drives a stepping motor 2 by a specified amount to rotate a platen roller 3 thus carrying a print sheet P and then stops driving of the stepping motor 2. When a user operates a sheet feed key 4 to designate further carriage of the print sheet P, the control section 1 drives the stepping motor 2 furthermore so long as carriage of the print sheet P is designated. A thermal head 6 prints on the print sheet P according to a designation from the control section 1. When designation of the user is ended, the control section 1 resets the specified amount or the print position of the thermal head 6 based on the number of steps of pulses fed for driving the stepping motor 2 before temporarily stopping carriage of the print sheet P, and the number of steps of pulses fed for driving the stepping motor 2 according to designation of the user.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
