PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bimolecular membrane formation method capable of easily and properly forming a bimolecular membrane by contact of amphiphilic monomolecular membranes and apparatus for the formation.;SOLUTION: A lipid bimolecular membrane 2B is formed by introducing an organic solvent 2 containing a lipid molecule in first micro-channels 1 formed in the front and the rear face of a substrate 5; forming second micro-channels 3 forming crossing points with the first micro-channels 1 from both sides and introducing a liquid 4 which is not mixed with the organic solvent containing the lipid molecule toward crossing points from both sides of the second micro-channels 3; forming mutually opposed lipid monomolecular membranes 2A in the interface of the liquid 4 and the organic solvent containing the lipid molecule; controlling the pressure of the liquid 4 in the second micro-channels 3 by a syringe pump; and bonding the mutually opposed liquid monomolecular membranes 2A by bringing the interfaces of the liquid 4 introduced from both ends of the first micro-channels 1 into contact with each other.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
