Prodn. of a mould for moulding tyre treads with a sculptured shape having non-demouldable designs moulded by mould elements. For each non-demouldable design a moulding element (4) is made having one part defining the design (4) and a second part situated in a housing forming the anchorage (5) of the element in the mould. A counter mould (1) is made with known demoulding movement and into which are machined housings (5) for the moulding element (4) in such placement as to allow withdraw on demoulding. An associated part is placed in each housing to ensure continuity of the counter mould surface and prevent moulding material entering the housing. On demoulding each moulding element exits its housing along the line of demoulding movement and the second part stays in the mould.
