PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high efficient zinc oxide ultraviolet emitter which dramatically improves the ultraviolet emission efficiency of zinc oxide and inhibits green color emission by an inexpensive and simple method, and to provide the ultraviolet emitter obtained by the production method.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the zinc oxide ultraviolet emitter includes a process for heating zinc oxide in a gas atmosphere containing hydrogen gas. The method for producing the zinc oxide ultraviolet emitter comprises (a) a process for thermally sintering zinc oxide in the atmosphere and (b) a process for heating the sintered zinc oxide in a mixed gas atmosphere containing hydrogen gas. By the production methods, the zinc oxide ultraviolet emitter having a luminous efficiency of ≥100 times at an emission peak wavelength of 380 nm is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
