PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase amount of oil recovery from blow-by gas and to improve a layout character by suppressing increase in constraint on an engine design.;SOLUTION: A breather chamber 6 is formed with a head cover 3, a cyclone communicating with the breather chamber 6 is placed, a first oil discharge passage 13 communicating with the breather chamber 6 and a second oil discharge passage 14 communicating with the cyclone are placed, and both the oil discharge passages 13, 14 are congregated with a communication passage 15. An oil reservoir part 15 is placed in the communication passage 15, and overflowing oil is returned back to an oil pan 4 through an oil return passage 16. The second oil discharge passage 14 is opened in oil in the oil reservoir part. Since there is only one oil return passage to the oil pan, it is possible to improve the degree of freedom of layout of each part of an engine without affecting constraint on a design by placing a breather device.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
