The erosion of high-pressure gun is different from that of ordinary gun bore. The degradation curve of the gun bore surface shapes like a unique saddle because of the two erosion peaks occurring. This particular erosion situation cannot be well explained using traditional heat transfer model and bore-cracking model. Therefore, a "blow-by erosion" model for the explanation of this saddle-type degradation has been developed based on the internal ballistic model during the launch of the high-pressure gun combined with the "shot leakage" phenomenon in gun bore, which can well explain the appearance of the second erosion peak on the high pressure gun bore surface. The theoretical calculation position is well consistent with the actual test results. Moreover, the model can also be used to assist in analyzing the surface degradation of other barrel weapons. gun barrel; erosion; blow-by
