PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method capable of obtaining a cobalt lithium oxide having a prescribed grain size by a simple method without needing another screening stage, etc., after grinding the oxide in the production method of the cobalt lithium oxide by burning and grinding the mixture of cobalt oxide and lithium carbonate. SOLUTION: The mixture of the cobalt oxide and the lithium carbonate is burned under condition of a mixing molar ratio (Li/Co) of 0.95-1.2, 900-1100 deg.C burning temp. (T), (0.0275T-23.0) to (0.0225T-191.33) m average grain size of burning reaction product, then the burned matter is ground.
