PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ratchet type tensioner with hydraulic buffer mechanism which has a simple structure, can reduce manufacturing cost, can ensure an oil passage easily, and has excellent durability. ;SOLUTION: A plunger 8 is slidably fitted and inserted into a plunger insertion hole 9A formed in the axial direction of a plunger sleeve 9 whose advance displacement only is allowed by a reverse going prevention mechanism by passing through it, and a plunger spring 10 which energizes the plunger 8 forward is provided around a part where the plunger 8 protrudes from a front end of the plunger sleeve 9. A sleeve spring 14 which has smaller spring constant than that of the plunger spring 10 and energizes the plunger sleeve 9 forward is provided between a plunger housing 7 and the plunger sleeve 9, and a high pressure chamber H communicated with an oil pressure supply part through a check valve 15 is formed in a clearance between a bottom part of a plunger storage hole 7B and a rear end face 7C of the plunger.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
