PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-purity crystallized sodium o-hydroxymandelate-phenol- water complex by reacting glyoxylic acid with phenol. ;SOLUTION: This complex is expressed by the formula ((n) and (m) are each 0.8-1.2). The complex can be produced by reacting glyoxylic acid with phenol in the presence of a t-amine and a trivalent cation, treating the reaction product with a solution of an alkaline hydroxide and introducing phenol into the obtained aqueous solution of pH7-9.
