PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the original feeding accuracy of feeding an original to a roller, to prevent original jam occurrence, to enhance the original reading accuracy, and to simply eliminate original jam. PSOLUTION: In an original feeder, a deflection means to deflect the direction of an original fed from an original feed unit comprises an original guide formed on an original cover, a positionally-fixed paper feed roller to feed the original, a driven roller to be driven by the paper feed roller, and a rocking roller fitting member which is elastically urged by a predetermined elastic member so that the driven roller is elastically urged by the paper feed roller. The roller fitting member comprises an original guide unit which is protruded in the direction of the paper feed roller from a fixed guide to guide the original in an original feeding condition, and a second abutting unit to rock the original guide unit when the original cover is opened.
