PURPOSE: To obtain the title resin excellent in hardness, flexibility, and solvent resistance by hydrolyzing all of the hydrolyzable alkoxyls of a specified alkoxy- functional product, inactivating the catalyst, and striping the reaction product of water and alcohol. ;CONSTITUTION: The title resin is produced by (A) reacting (a) a trialkoxysilane of the formula (wherein OR1 is a 1-4C alkoxyl; R2 is an aryl or an alkyl) with (b) a difunctional diorganosilicone compound and (c) a polyol in the presence of (d) a catalytic amount of an acidic cationic siloxane polymerization catalyst to form an alkoxyl-functional product; (B) hydrolyzing all of the hydrolyzable groups of the alkoxyl-functional product obtained in step A by the addition of a predetermined amount of water; (C) inactivating the acidic cationic siloxane polymerization catalyst in the hydrolysis product; and (D) stripping the product of water and alcohol.
