A fusion protein comprising an HPV E7 protein or a functional portion and a stress protein wherein the E7 protein is joined directly to the amino terminus of the stress protein and is capable of inducing an immune response to the E& protein. Also disclosed is nucleic acid molecules and expression vectors encoding the fusion protein.
