A safety device or fall arrest device for attachment to a safety harness. The safety device includes a harness attachment, a support attachment and an elongate restraint extending between the harness attachment and support attachment. The safety device further includes a means for adjusting the length of the elongate restraint. Preferably the elongate restraint is provided with indicia to indicate the distance between the support attachment and the harness attachment as an indication of the maximum distance which workers attached thereto can move from the anchorage point.
