Procedure of transfection of cells with non-viral vectors and irradiation. A method of transfecting cells using cationic lipids is described, in a particular way, the transfection vector is 1,2-diacyl-3-trimethylammonium propane (DOTAP), and subsequent irradiation. The process may comprise an additional stage of criconservation of the transfected cells. Transfected polynucleotides preferably express immunomodulatory proteins, specifically cytokines, and more specifically, polynucleotides express at least the growth factor of macrophage granulocyte colonies (GM-CSF). The cells obtained by this procedure and pharmaceutical compositions containing the transfected cells are described, especially when autologous tumor cells are transfected. The use of transfected cells in the field of gene therapy and their use as an antitumor drug is described.
