摘要

Method for altering the specificity of a cyclooxygenase inhibitor compound, comprising the steps of: (a) providing a compound having cyclooxygenase inhibitor activity, the compound having a carboxylic acid moiety or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, associated with the activity cyclooxygenase inhibitor, the compound being devoid of specificity for the cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitory activity; and (b) alter the specificity of the compound in step (a), from being devoid of specificity for the cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitory activity to having specificity for the cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitory activity, by converting the compound having the carboxylic acid moiety or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in a derivative having an ester moiety or a secondary amide moiety.
