A TABLETOP BASE FOR A NOTEBOOK OR LAPTOP COMPUTER

An accessory (1) is provided for a notebook (6, 31) wherein the accessory has a base providing an upper support surface configured to support a notebook in non-sliding relationship relative thereto and a downwardly directed contact surface for supporting the base on a work surface. The contact surface is composed of a first and a second contact zone wherein the first contact zone (2, 27) is a major contact zone, and assumes the form of a skid surface adapted to slide on a work surface. The second contact zone (4, 28) is a minor contact zone and has a friction affording surface adapted to inhibit sliding of the base on a work surface when the second contact zone is in contact with a supporting work surface in a normal operating condition of the base. Means are provided for enabling manual disengagement of the second contact zone from a supporting work surface in order to enable the base to be slid over the work surface whilst supported on the skid surface of the first contact zone.
