The invention relates to a microscope which comprises a radiation source module (1) generating electromagnetic radiation for impinging a sample (6) to be examined, an optical module (2) directing the radiation onto the sample (6), and a detection module (4) detecting the radiation coming from the impinged sample. The radiation source module (1) comprises a surface-emitting semiconductor laser (7) having a vertical resonance chamber as the radiation source.
