METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR THE TREATMENT AND PROCESSING OF WASTE CONTAINING PORTIONS POSING A HEALTH HAZARD

The invention relates to a method for treating and processing waste containing residual substances that pose a health hazard, particularly toxic, infectious, and/or slightly irradiated residual substances, including different types of leftovers or residues representing different degrees of danger and hazard such as perishable and/or foul domestic waste, microorganisms, medicaments, narcotics, insecticides, pesticides, waste from slaughterhouses, prion-loaded tissue (PrP, BSE), infectious and cross-contaminated feces and sludge, septic tank sludge, heavy metal-loaded substances. The inventive method is characterized in that the volume of the waste is reduced while the total surface thereof is increased in a physical step by comminuting, especially shredding, the waste, whereupon additives that are added step by step chemically attack the waste in controlled conditions in at least one chemical step. Also disclosed is a device for carrying out said method.
