Method and wide-strip sanding machine for sanding sheet-type, relatively soft synthetic materials

The invention relates to a device and a method for width-sanding sheet-type floor coverings and rubber printing bands that are uncoiled from cylinders and recoiled onto cylinders upon sanding. The material is repeatedly guided across a driven supporting roller and is continuously sanded on the opposite side thereof. According to the inventive device and method, the sheet-type material is sanded by means of a continuous sanding strip while being enveloped in part by the supporting roller. The inventive use of sanding strips results in a better sanding quality that is achieved in fewer sanding processes as opposed to cylinder sanding machines.
