The object is to provide an oral composition which is excellent in a cardiac dysfunction-ameliorating effect and a cardiac function-maintaining effect and is highly safe. It is found that a composition useful for the amelioration of cardiac dysfunction or the maintenance of cardiac functions can be obtained by using a highly safe coenzyme Q, particularly a reduced coenzyme Q. Disclosed are: a cardiac dysfunction-ameliorating agent or a cardiac function-maintaining agent comprising a reduced coenzyme Q as an active ingredient; and a pharmaceutical, food, veterinary pharmaceutical, animal feed or the like comprising the agent.
