It is possible to provide a sound field control method for realizing, with a simple process, a sound field by a front surround system applicable to an actual listening environment where no speaker can be placed behind a listener and controlling the sound field so as to be appropriate for the actual location where respective speakers are placed. A sound emitted from a surround speaker (4SR or 4SL) arranged in front of a listener (M) and emitting a sound having a sound field to be positioned at a location other than the front is collected by using a right microphone (RM) and a left microphone (LM) arranged at the right and the left ear of the listener (M), respectively. The sound emission direction from one of the speakers is adjusted according to a right microphone signal (Srm) and a left microphone signal (Slm) corresponding to the collected sounds. Furthermore, a positioning control parameter is generated for controlling the position of the sound image corresponding to the respective speakers according to the difference.
